Tip 1: "Don't Get So Busy Living That You Forget To Make A Life"

I wouldn't be shocked if you've heard the quote in today's blog post title before, because I know I've heard it a million times in my own life. "Don't get so busy living that you forget to make a life." I have to admit- I have a tendency to be the worst example of this. Why? Well... the entertainment industry moves fast. Changes in technology, laws, contracts- all of these things tend to impact my ability to do what I love while creating a comfortable income, and if I don't move quickly, what could be the "land of opportunity" today could be gone tomorrow. I absolutely love what I do- do not get me wrong- but I know at times being on high alert, thinking primarily from a business perspective tends to make me a little less...relatable? I've come to this realization recently, in a means that I wouldn't wish on anyone. In the last few months, I've had three people close to me diagnosed with cancer. I'm actually writing this today from the ICU waiting room while one of them is being checked on by doctors, and I can't help but feel guilty because in the last few years, I can't recall the last time I called them up just to say hi unless someone else called first and passed me the phone. I have become so consumed with making sure I don't fall behind that I've let the people important to me do exactly that. Cancer sucks. Life can suck. Obligations can definitely suck, especially in moments like this. And without going into a profanity-filled rant, as much as I honestly want to right now, life is too short not to try to fix it.

With whatever you do in life, "Don't get so busy living that you forget to make a life." Don't let everything you're consumed with thinking is important make you neglect what actually is. Life's too short not to stop and appreciate the little things. And on that note I'm going to be doing exactly that today. -Kaylyn <3
